You’ve had a referral from your GP or Paediatrician- so what happens next?

We will contact you to organise an appointment.

If you are 18 or over we will contact you directly using the phone numbers provided by your Doctor to organise an appointment. If you are under 18 we will usually contact the primary care provider listed on the referral. If we have not contacted you within 7 days of your GP completing your referral, please feel free to contact us directly.

Your first appointment is an assessment and planning session.

Your first appointment is a longer session (90 minutes) so please take this into account when accepting your appointment time. We use this session to better understand your individual needs, current issues and determine the best way to support you. At the end of this session we are required to write back to your Doctor with the outcomes and our plan. Please note that the gap payment for your assessment and planning session is different than our normal sessions because of the additional time and report writing requirements.

Your second appointment, and those after, are standard sessions.

All appointments after your assessment and planning session are 50-60 mins and are charged at the same rate. You have 19 of these sessions left to use over the next 12 months if you have been referred on an Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP) or 9 if you been referred under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Sometimes your GP can refer using a Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)

This sometimes happens when your GP would like us to assess you for a possible eating disorder and are seeking our opinion to help them determine a diagnosis. A GP can refer you for 1 to 5 sessions under a GPCCMP. If you are diagnosed with an eating disorder you can then obtain an Eating Disorder Plan which would give you access to a further 20 sessions over the next 12 months. Your first appointment under a GPCCMP is always an assessment and planning session (90 mins).
