Screening & Assessment Appointments

If you are worried you, or someone you know, may have an eating disorder but not have a diagnosis or plan yet, then you can access our assessment and screening appointments. You do not need a referral for these. This is the best way to determine whether you are at risk of an eating disorder and what steps are best for you to take next in seeking support and gaining a referral. If you live outside of Bundaberg and wish to access our assessment and screening appointments online, you can book directly with us here.

Diagnosed Eating Disorder

To access Medicare rebated sessions you will need a referral from your GP. We can provide your GP with your assessment and screening information (if you attended one of our sessions above) and if they agree with our recommendations will be able to establish an Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP). You can access 20 sessions with a Dietitian and up to 40 sessions* with a Psychologist every 12 months to support you and your eating disorder under this plan. If you already have a EDP, then you can simply provide us with a copy, or ask your GP to send us a copy and we can start working with you.

In some cases your presentation may give you access to up to 5 sessions with our Dietitian under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) or up to 10 sessions with our Psychologist and/or Dietitian under a GP mental health treatment plan (GPMHTP). Please discuss with your GP.

We also support disordered eating behaviours, so even if your assessment does not fit the criteria for one of the main eating disorders, we can still offer you a range of nutritional and therapeutic support.

Infant and children feeing disorders

Typically you will need a GP referral to access our Speech Pathology feeding service. Your GP will need to refer you under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP). This gives you access to (up to) 5 sessions with our Speech Pathologist. Additional appointments not covered by the GPCCMP would need to be funded privately. You may be able to claim partial payments from your private health fund, please check with your provider. Referrals are also available under the M10 pathway for complex neurodevelopmental disorder and disability clients. Your GP or paediatrician can typically refer under this pathway and you can have unto 20 sessions with a speech pathologist under this plan.

You will not need a referral if you access our services under the NDIS via planned or self managed funding (see NDIS below).

*referral from paediatrician or psychiatrist required for sessions 21-40
