Referral process for General Practitioners using an Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan (EDP)

Coral Coast Eating Disorders provides a holistic approach to Eating Disorder care. Our preference is for you to refer for Dietetic and Psychological services at the same time. Only one EDP is required when both professions are indicated on the referral.

If you do not have a current EDP template you can access them below they work with most practice management software packages including Best Practice:

Complete the top of the EDP as follows:

Complete the initial treatment recommendations section

Please ensure you have included psychological treatment and dietetic services under the initial treatment recommendations section of the EDP, using the following information:

Please ensure that the correct billing code for EDP is submitted to Medicare (90250). We’ve encountered situations where the GPMHTP billing code is submitted in error which results in the client not receiving rebates.

We accept all new eating disorder referrals (for both in-person and Telehealth).

Once the plan has commenced we will write to you after the first appointment and at the end of allotted sessions. We will also contact you if we have any concerns or need to share or acquire any other relevant information between sessions 1 and the final session. In the case of an extension to Psychology sessions, we will contact you within a reasonable timeframe to ensure a decision can be made to extend before existing sessions expire.

Referring with a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)

You can refer some presentations using a Chronic Condition Management Plan. This option may be helpful if you are seeking an opinion on a possible eating disorder but do not want to pursue a mental health pathway at this time:
